About Us
Tradepaints had its beginnings as Crowncoat in 1977, specializing in paints and the coatings for exterior awnings. After growing rapidly due to the founding idea of quality products at a fair, competitive price, the company partners separated the paint and canvas coating divisions and Tradepaints was formed.
Situated in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Tradepaints under the helm of Allan Duxson grew into a reputable supplier of paint into the master painters’ trade in Melbourne. By the late 1980’s Tradepaints’ humble factory in Oakdene Grove, Laverton was too small for the growing business so a move to its current, larger premises at 142 Fitzgerald Rd in Laverton North was necessary.
Still in the heart of Melbourne’s western suburbs, Tradepaints continued to produce a full range of premium quality, industrial and domestic paints and diversified into the field of contract manufacture for many major names in paint and construction.
In the mid 1990’s Allan launched the Duxson range of household paints, recognizable by native Australian birds on the labels and eucalypt leaves in the logo, at a time when major Australian paint brands were being bought out by overseas conglomerates.
In 2003, Andrew Duxson one of Allan’s sons joined the management team. Sadly in the winter of 2006, Allan passed away, and he is succeeded Andrew who shares his father’s ideal of quality paints made locally.
Now under the hand of Andrew Duxson, Tradepaints is embarking on a program of continuous improvement whereby over time each of the products in the range is becoming more durable, longer lasting and more environmentally friendly.
